Mistlands Infested Mines punish the same mistakes every time: pulling three seekers into an open room, ignoring ticks because they look small, and losing your exit after the Black Cores are looted. The safe clear is a method, not a gear check—controlled pulls, instant tick removal, and a cleared exit path.

Before the First Door

Clear the area around the entrance before touching the door. Seekers and Gjall patrol outside, and a retreat from the mine should not become a second fight. Mark the entrance on the map, set a portal outside if possible, and do not enter at night.

Bring a Blackmetal pickaxe. Infested Mines often have breakable black-marble seals or hidden passages that require one. Carry healing mead, stamina mead, and your rested bonus. Food should give you enough HP to survive one hard seeker hit and enough stamina to swing through tick swarms.

Set a simple group order before entering: one person pulls, one holds the doorway, and one watches the rear and ceiling. Solo players should pull more slowly and treat every uncleared corner as occupied.

Loadout That Pulls Its Weight

You do not need full Mistlands gear for a first Infested Mine, but you do need a loadout that handles tight rooms, fast ticks, and armored seekers without burning through stamina.

Slot Pick Reason
Main weapon Frostner or Blackmetal sword Frostner slows enemy advance in doorways; the sword clears attached ticks fast
Shield Blackmetal shield Parries normal Seekers and blocks Brood hits
Two-hand option Blackmetal atgeir The spin attack clears tick swarms before they jump
Ranged Draugr Fang with needle arrows Safe pulls and popping tick eggs from outside a room
Utility Blackmetal pickaxe Opens hidden passages and breakable shortcuts
Backup Stamina mead Doorway fights can drain stamina quickly

Safe Pulls

Infested Mines are full of side rooms, vertical drops, and breakable walls. The central mistake is pulling a room by walking into the middle of it. Pull from the doorway instead.

Use the bow to hit one seeker or soldier from maximum range, then back around the corner or through the doorway. This breaks line of sight and forces enemies to come to you single file. Fight where you have already cleared, never in the new room. The same pull-and-kite principle applies in a Fuling Village Raid: Pull, Kite, Clear Without Swarms, but inside a mine the doorway replaces open terrain.

If a room has multiple enemies visible, shoot tick eggs and hanging sacs before pulling the main target. A seeker pull that also releases three ticks is how groups fall apart. Clear the eggs first.

Hold doorways as choke points. Seekers can fly, but they still funnel through openings. A Frostner hit in a doorway slows the first seeker and blocks the ones behind it. Parry a normal Seeker when it attacks, then punish it. Against a Seeker Soldier, do not stand in the lunge line; strafe or dodge roll, then hit.
